A teacher underwent emergency surgery following severe injuries sustained in a three-vehicle collision. Lisa Moorhouse, 52, was driving her Volkswagen Polo to work when a van veered into her lane on Leek Road between Cellarhead and Weston Coyney on January 26.
Staffordshire Police confirmed that the accident occurred after a white Vauxhall Vivaro van broke down nearby. Emergency responders swiftly transported Lisa to Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment.
Describing the terrifying incident, Lisa’s father, John Moorhouse, expressed his shock at the collision. He recounted the van careening towards his daughter’s vehicle, leaving both cars facing the wrong direction on the road after the impact.
Despite the ordeal, witnesses assured Lisa that the accident was unavoidable given the circumstances. John emphasized the gravity of Lisa’s injuries, necessitating immediate surgical intervention. He praised the hospital staff for their excellent care and expressed relief that his daughter survived the crash.
Following the incident, Staffordshire Police initiated an investigation into the collision involving multiple vehicles on Leek Road. They called for information and dashcam footage from witnesses to aid in the inquiry.
Emergency services attended to the injured parties at the scene, with both a man and a woman requiring hospitalization for their injuries. The road remained closed for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation.
