The family of a 16-year-old boy who tragically passed away following a stabbing expressed their deep sorrow over his loss. Shayne Hambakachere was discovered with stab wounds on London Road in Chippenham just before 4pm on Saturday and later succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Sunday. A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident and remained under police supervision on Monday, according to Wiltshire Police.
The police force released a heartfelt tribute from Shayne’s father, Emmanuel Hambakachere, who portrayed his son as an ambitious young man with significant aspirations. Shayne, a skilled sprinter, was diligent at home and even took on two jobs at one point to avoid relying on his family for financial support.
Emmanuel Hambakachere fondly remembered Shayne, emphasizing his contagious laughter and dedication to fitness through regular gym visits. Shayne excelled in sprinting and often represented his school in competitions. He was a hardworking individual with lofty goals, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit by engaging in online clothing and accessory resale to fund his desires without burdening his family financially.
At home, Shayne dutifully executed his chores, adhered to his curfew, and maintained open communication with his family. Known for his helpfulness, tidiness, and assertiveness in expressing his opinions, Shayne was a courageous and respected figure within his community.
The family cherished the joyful memories shared with Shayne during his last Christmas in 2025, highlighting his wins in various games and the overall festive atmosphere. They expressed gratitude towards the medical staff at Southmead Hospital Bristol for their unwavering efforts to save Shayne’s life and the compassionate support provided during a challenging period.
