A woman named Katherine Tee claims to hold crucial information regarding the most significant aviation enigma of recent times.
Twelve years ago, Tee, a British sailor, alleges she witnessed a portion of the missing Malaysian Airlines plane ablaze during its crash.
The Boeing 777-200ER vanished on March 8, 2014, with 227 passengers and 12 crew members aboard, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, China. The aircraft disappeared from radar approximately 40 minutes after takeoff and was never located again.
Tee claims that she observed a “bright orange” object and a “trail of black smoke” above the Indian Ocean, which she believes was the burning Boeing aircraft.
Despite extensive efforts utilizing advanced technology, the search for the plane, relaunched recently, has not succeeded in recovering the wreckage.
Although some debris has been found along African coastlines and Indian Ocean islands, no significant parts of MH370 have been retrieved. It is speculated that the aircraft veered off its intended course, possibly flying westward for several hours before disappearing.
Tee and her husband, Marc Horn, were sailing from Cochin, India, to Phuket, Thailand, when she claims to have witnessed the aircraft.
Initially hesitant to report her sighting, Tee explained to the Phuket Gazette that she initially doubted her own perception, attributing the sighting to a potential mental lapse.
She described seeing what appeared to be a burning plane with orange lights and black smoke, an unusual sight that led her to question her sanity.
After landing in Phuket and learning about the missing plane, Tee revisited the GPS logs of their journey and found that her observation aligned with the confirmed MH370 contact authorities had.
Convinced of the relevance of her sighting, Tee reported the incident to the Joint Agency Coordination Centre (JACC) in June 2014.
