Young woman dies in tragic paragliding accident

Date:

A tragic paragliding accident claimed the life of a young woman in a popular holiday destination frequented by British tourists. Cristina Colturi, aged 28, suffered fatal injuries during a tandem paragliding flight near La Enramada beach in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. Despite emergency responders’ efforts to revive her at the scene, Cristina went into cardiac arrest and, despite initial resuscitation on the beach and transportation to a hospital, she passed away two days later.

Originally from Castelnuovo Bozzente near Milan, Italy, Cristina had moved to Tenerife a year prior and worked as a color analyst at a local hotel. Following the accident, her family consented to organ donation and arranged for her burial on the island in accordance with her wishes.

Having expressed a desire to experience paragliding again after a previous flight in Italy, Cristina’s partner gifted her the ill-fated excursion for Christmas. The paragliding instructor involved in the incident sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently receiving treatment at South Tenerife Hospital. Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
