This week, the national weather agency issued various weather alerts due to icy conditions, snow, and rain posing risks. Recently, a snow warning was issued for the Pennines, predicting up to 15cm of snow, but the warning has now lapsed.

Further snowfall is anticipated today as per the Met Office forecast, although most areas are expected to receive rain, some regions may encounter wintry showers. The forecast specifically mentions the likelihood of snow in the Scottish hills, while brighter conditions are predicted in the north-west, with heavy rain anticipated in the south-west later on.

According to the forecast, Friday will witness rain across most areas, snow over Scottish hills, and continued windy conditions. The north-west is expected to experience brighter spells, while heavy showers are forecasted for the southwest later in the day. The Scottish mountains span across 10 council areas.

Looking ahead to next week, BBC Weather also suggests more snow in the forecast. For the period of February 9 to 15, changeable conditions are expected.
