A tragic incident outside her university accommodation claimed the life of a 21-year-old beauty queen when she was crushed against a wall by her own vehicle. Eleisha Skinner, who held the title of Miss Faversham in 2022, was a student at Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe at the time of the accident.
The young social work student was unloading her belongings when her parked car unexpectedly rolled backward, trapping her against the building’s wall. Despite being pinned, Eleisha managed to call emergency services, who arrived promptly. She was taken to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries on January 8, despite the efforts of medical personnel and her housemates.
The university has announced that Eleisha will be posthumously awarded a BSc with honors in social work. A funeral service at St Mary of Charity Church in her hometown of Faversham drew over 200 mourners who remembered her as a beautiful, kind, and selfless individual.
During the funeral procession, her casket was carried by a horse and carriage past her former school, The Abbey, before proceeding to the church. Mourners were encouraged to wear pink ties in honor of Eleisha’s favorite color.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Rev Corcoran described Eleisha as stunning, confident, and a positive influence on everyone she encountered. Her older brother, Kian, expressed his deep love and pride for his sister, stating that no one could ever replace her in his heart.
Her grandfather, George, fondly recalled watching Eleisha grow into a caring and passionate individual who always prioritized her loved ones. Her parents, Nigel and Clare Skinner, expressed their devastation at losing their kind-hearted daughter, highlighting her selfless nature and unwavering commitment to helping others.
Eleisha’s community involvement extended beyond her beauty queen titles, as she dedicated herself to fundraising for local charities and actively participated in various community events. An inquest into her tragic death revealed that the parked car had pushed her against the accommodation building. A full inquest is scheduled for June 23 to further investigate the circumstances surrounding her passing.
