Man Faces Over Six Years in Prison for Recording Women in Airport Restroom

Date:

A man is facing potential imprisonment exceeding six years for allegedly recording two women without their consent in a restroom at Palma de Mallorca Airport. The 41-year-old Spaniard, accused of targeting the women, one of whom was a British tourist aged 17 at the time, has been formally charged.

According to court documents released recently, the accused unlawfully entered the women’s restroom at the airport and used a mobile device to capture images of his victims, including the minor who was changing her clothing in a neighboring cubicle. The British tourist is expected to testify at the trial, although a specific trial date has not been scheduled yet.

The same man is also accused of recording another woman in the same restroom area by concealing a mobile device behind a waste bin. Prosecutors are pursuing a sentence of two years and six months for breaching the privacy of the older woman, with the offense reportedly occurring on July 2, 2023. For the incident involving the British minor on July 7, 2024, prosecutors are seeking a four-year jail term if the accused is found guilty, along with a compensation claim of around £5,000.

Details surrounding the man’s arrest remain unclear, as he was released on bail following a night in police custody pending an ongoing investigation that led to the formal charges. A trial date has not been determined as of now.
