A teaching assistant with predatory behavior was found guilty of sending an inappropriate photo to a teenage girl and engaging in “upskirting” while his wife was pregnant at home. Qazi Mohammed, who committed the acts in 2024 at a school in Bradford, Yorkshire, admitted to causing a child to witness a sexual act and was convicted of voyeurism at Bradford Crown Court.
During the trial, it was revealed that Mohammed took the girl’s phone, added his username to her SnapChat account, and initiated messaging with her, including sending an indecent photo of himself. Additionally, he took a covert photo of the girl’s crotch area and underwear without her consent. To protect the victim’s identity, the specific details of the offenses and the school involved were not disclosed.
The victim later confronted Mohammed after receiving the inappropriate image, expressing her distress over the situation. Despite having no prior criminal record, Mohammed, now 23, was arrested in 2024 but chose not to comment on the allegations when questioned by the police.
In a statement, the victim highlighted how Mohammed exploited her vulnerability and abused his authority for his own gain. Mohammed was sentenced to 16 months in prison for his actions, and he will be required to register as a sex offender for the next decade and adhere to the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
During the sentencing, Mohammed’s barrister emphasized that the offenses were uncharacteristic based on numerous references provided. However, Judge Jonathan Rose of Bradford noted that Mohammed posed a significant risk of harm to children, as evidenced by his actions aimed at grooming the victim for sexual purposes and taking intrusive photos without her knowledge.
The judge concluded that Mohammed’s behavior was driven by his own sexual gratification and emphasized the seriousness of the offenses committed.
