A British couple was apprehended for their involvement in an alleged abduction attempt. The duo, both in their 40s to 45s, reportedly tried to coerce a Spanish woman in her 60s into their vehicle while she was walking in the Son Ferriol area of Palma, Majorca, around 1pm local time on Sunday (12pm GMT). The male suspect exited the car on Maria Anna Bonafe street and approached the woman, allegedly trying to force her inside the vehicle.
The victim resisted by throwing herself to the ground and calling for help. Witnesses, including her husband, intervened swiftly, thwarting the purported abduction. Approximately an hour later, the British pair was arrested in close proximity to the incident location. A spokesperson from the National Police in Majorca stated on Monday that the suspects, described as middle-aged, are currently in custody over the incident. The targeted woman was hospitalized for minor injuries but was discharged shortly after. The authorities are continuing their investigation and plan to provide further updates.
A witness contradicted initial reports by claiming that the female suspect was the one attempting to abduct the victim, not the male suspect as previously indicated. The victim’s daughter, Isabel, clarified that her mother is 64 years old and was waiting for her to attend her niece’s competition. According to Isabel, a white car pulled up next to her mother, and the driver, dressed in pajamas, aggressively tried to force her into the vehicle while yelling at her. Isabel further explained that her mother’s husband and local shopkeepers rushed to her aid after she fell to the ground. Isabel expressed her shock upon arriving at the scene and finding her injured mother, who had bruises all over her body, with the most pain in her neck.
