Britons are seeking information regarding travel to Dubai amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
British Airways has announced a suspension of all flights to Dubai until June due to escalating tensions, while Emirates is offering passengers the option to rebook or receive a refund for flights scheduled between February 28 and April 15.
The decision to cancel flights was made to address the uncertainty and airspace instability in the Middle East and to provide clarity for customers, according to a BA spokesperson.
Recent reports of explosions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have heightened concerns as the region faces retaliatory strikes from Iran.
Following a drone attack by Iran on March 16, Dubai’s main airport, DXB, was temporarily closed. Although the airport has since reopened with limited service, the UK Foreign Office advises against non-essential travel to the UAE due to security risks.
The FCDO warns of ongoing strikes on civilian infrastructure in the region by Iran, including hotels, roads, energy facilities, and airports.
Dubai Airport temporarily suspended flights as a precautionary measure, affecting both local and UK-bound passengers, although operations have resumed with reduced service.
Travelers in the UAE are urged to adhere to local authorities’ guidance, register with the UK government, and prepare for sudden changes in travel conditions.
Despite safety concerns, some travelers continued to fly to the region, but with increasing flight cancellations, Emirates is operating a limited flight schedule following the partial reopening of airspace.
Affected customers will be notified of flight cancellations and provided with rebooking options. Passengers are entitled to prompt reaccommodation under air passengers’ rights regulations.
Travelers are advised not to proceed to Dubai Airport without confirmed departure information, as schedules are subject to change. Access to the airport is restricted to confirmed ticket holders.
Dubai officials confirmed successful air interception operations to address reported threats, with no injuries reported. Official sources are recommended for updates on the situation.
