“Bomb Squad Retrieves Suspicious Devices in Dublin”

Date:

Bomb squad officers responded to a shop in Dublin today following reports of two suspicious devices discovered inside a bag near the shop. The Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team retrieved two suspect devices from Ballyfermot Road this morning after being called by Gardaí around 10:10 am. After an examination, the bomb disposal experts recovered the two devices and additional equipment.

The devices have been taken from the scene for further analysis, and the road remains closed at present. A spokesperson for the Defence Forces confirmed that the area has been handed back to An Garda Síochána.

In a statement to Dublin Live, the Defence Forces reported, “At 10:10 hrs today, bomb disposal specialists from the EOD team assisted An Garda Síochána in responding to a suspected device in Ballyfermot, Co. Dublin. Following an assessment, two devices and other equipment were identified and removed for further analysis before the scene was handed over to AGS. The operation has now been completed.”

Earlier today, Gardaí announced, “Gardaí are on-site at an incident on Ballyfermot Road in Dublin 10, with the road currently closed. The public is advised to avoid the area, and updates will follow.”

Cllr. Daithí Doolan, chairperson of the Local Community Safety Partnership, expressed deep concern over the discovery of the devices. He stated, “The significant operation by Gardaí following the discovery of suspect devices in Ballyfermot is alarming for the community, especially coming shortly after incidents in Liffey Valley. The public’s safety is at risk with these devices outside a local shop, urging vigilance and reporting of any suspicious activity to Gardaí.”

Doolan emphasized the need for resources to combat such crimes, urging the community to provide information to the authorities for justice against those involved in criminal activities.
