A notorious figure in the nursery industry, Vincent Chan, was captured on video callously refusing to cooperate with police inquiries regarding his heinous activities.
The footage was made public following Chan’s sentencing to 18 years in prison for sexually abusing young children in a series of acts labeled as “every parent’s worst nightmare.”
Chan, sporting a gray tracksuit and a ponytail, sat slouched, avoiding eye contact with a detective probing him about the disturbing abuse he had recorded. Despite repeated questioning by the officer, the cowardly offender chose to remain silent, offering no explanation to his victims.
Prior to this, Chan’s female solicitor read a prepared statement on his behalf, admitting guilt to all charges outlined in the disclosure document.
During the interrogation, the detective confronted Chan about cameras discovered in various parts of his residence, including the bathroom, living room, and bedroom. However, Chan only responded with a firm “No comment,” refusing to provide any clarification.
The investigation also unveiled that Chan had covertly recorded a teenage girl changing in her bedroom, along with molesting toddlers while employed at Bright Horizons nursery in West Hampstead. Additionally, he confessed to filming upskirt videos of schoolgirls and collecting indecent images of children online during his previous employment at a primary school.
At the sentencing hearing in Wood Green Crown Court, the scope of Chan’s illicit filming and sexual misconduct towards children was exposed for the first time. Prosecutors detailed how Chan had recorded women and girls undressing in their homes, including a video of a naked girl in a pool.
Further revelations showed that Chan had manipulated images of the teenage girl to depict sexual acts, alongside recordings of her and a friend in school uniforms, where he can be heard making inappropriate comments.
Prosecutors also disclosed Chan’s collection of around 2000 images of the girl over three years, in addition to videos of him assaulting an unconscious woman, filming women using the toilet, and capturing a pensioner undressing in her bedroom.
“The victims encompass females of all ages, from toddlers to seniors, recorded in intimate moments within their own residences,” stated the prosecutor.
