A man’s body has been discovered in the River Ayr near Failford, Mauchline, following the extensive search for Jason Anderson, 33, who went missing from Catrine, East Ayrshire, over two months ago. Jason was last seen on James Taylor Avenue around 10.20pm on December 12 last year.
Despite efforts by the police, including door-to-door inquiries and CCTV review, Jason’s whereabouts remained unknown. Specialized resources like police helicopters, drones, dive units, and mountain rescue teams were utilized in the search. Multiple search parties, organized by Jason’s family and local charities, were conducted to locate him, with the latest one happening last weekend.
Jason’s family expressed their devastation over his disappearance, with his brother Frankie sharing their anguish on social media. The uncertainty surrounding Jason’s disappearance weighed heavily on the family, causing fear, hope, and heartbreak. They appealed to the public, especially those with surveillance footage, to assist in the search efforts.
While formal identification of the body is pending, it is believed to be that of Jason Anderson. His death is currently classified as unexplained, pending further investigation. The Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed the discovery of the body and informed that a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal at the appropriate time.
