“Woman, Teen Charged in Severe Assault Case”

Date:

Charges have been filed against a woman and a teenage girl in connection with a severe assault that resulted in a woman being in critical condition.

Scarlett Faulkner, 29, hailing from Limerick, is currently in critical condition at Cork University Hospital after an incident on the R494 in Birdhill, Co Tipperary, last Saturday (March 21). The victim’s vehicle was forced off the road, and she was subsequently pulled out and assaulted.

Ms. Faulkner, a mother of one, sustained significant head injuries and was first airlifted to University Hospital Limerick before being transferred to Cork University Hospital, according to Dublin Live.

On Thursday morning, authorities in Nenagh arrested a woman in her 40s and a teenage girl in Limerick regarding the assault. Both were taken into custody under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at police stations in Co Tipperary.

Following their arrest, both suspects have been formally charged and appeared before a special session at Limerick District Court on Saturday around 5 pm.

An official spokesperson for the police mentioned that the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have urged the public not to distribute any video footage of the incident online and instead hand over any recordings to the investigating officers. They are also seeking information from witnesses or individuals who may have details about a grey 162 Ford Transit van and a blue 161 Volkswagen Touran people carrier spotted in the vicinity.

The police stated: “Any individuals who traveled on the R494 between Birdhill and the M7 motorway from 5 pm to 6 pm on Saturday, March 21, and have camera footage (including dash-cam), are requested to provide this footage to the investigating officers.

“Specifically, the police are interested in the movements of two vehicles, a grey 162 Ford Transit van and a blue 161 Volkswagen Touran people carrier, driving together or recklessly between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm on Saturday, March 21, in and around Birdhill village, the townlands of Cooleen, Crag Cross, Shower Cross, Kylebeg, Annaholty, and Thornhill, all within Co Tipperary.

“Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact Nenagh Garda Station on (067) 50450, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
