“Hit-and-Run Tragedy: Boys Injured on UK Motorway”

Date:

Two young boys sustained serious injuries in an accident on a major UK motorway while authorities search for a lorry driver who fled the scene. Lancashire Police responded to a collision on the M6 late Sunday night involving a green Nissan Micra and a silver Toyota Celica, followed by a HGV crashing into the Toyota. The lorry driver did not stop at the scene, prompting an ongoing investigation to locate the driver.

Emergency services, including police, paramedics, fire crews, and National Highways officers, arrived at the scene at 11:16 pm to assist. The driver, a 17-year-old boy, and his 16-year-old passenger were seriously injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. Both carriageways were temporarily closed overnight, causing significant congestion that lasted until mid-morning.

Sergeant Bex Price from the Road Policing Unit expressed concern for the injured boys and their families, emphasizing the ongoing investigation into the collision’s cause. Authorities are appealing for any information or footage related to the incident, particularly regarding a possibly involved HGV between junctions 32 and 33 northbound. Witnesses are urged to contact the police with any relevant details by referencing log 1242 of February 15.
