Shocking video captures a woman brandishing a knife at terrified store employees before vandalizing displays, causing panic among onlookers.
Tequilla King visited a shop on Newton Road in Heaton, Newcastle, on August 13 last year despite being previously banned. When asked to leave, she reacted by verbally abusing the staff and revealing a knife, as seen in recently released police footage.
Witnesses described how people quickly evacuated the premises upon seeing the weapon, while the manager sought refuge behind the Post Office counter to contact the authorities, according to Chronicle Live.
During the sentencing at Newcastle Crown Court, Recorder Nathan Moxon highlighted King’s menacing behavior, stating that she made threats to stab the manager, damaged store items, and posed a serious threat with the knife.
Despite the swift police response and King’s subsequent arrest, she continued to make violent threats towards the manager, leaving a lasting impact on the store staff’s sense of safety and well-being.
King, 25, received a 16-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to charges of wielding a bladed item, causing public disturbance, and property damage. Her defense argued that her actions stemmed from a mental health crisis and regrettable impulsivity.
The incident, marked by fear and chaos, underscores the serious consequences of wielding weapons in public spaces and the importance of addressing mental health issues to prevent such behavior in the future.
