“British Engineer Found Dead in Mumbai Hotel Room”

A British engineer involved in the coverage of Indian Premier League cricket has been discovered deceased in a hotel room in Mumbai.

Jan William Langford, aged 76, was found unresponsive in his accommodation at the luxurious Trident Hotel in Mumbai’s Nariman Point. Langford was working in collaboration with the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Following the Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders match at Wankhede Stadium on March 29, the broadcast engineer reportedly returned to his hotel room.

Subsequently, the hotel staff, concerned after numerous unsuccessful attempts to reach Langford, used a master key to access his room. Inside, they discovered him lying on the floor, prompting them to seek medical assistance.

The hotel’s medical team was summoned and Langford was swiftly transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The IPL Governing Council issued a statement expressing condolences for the sudden passing of Mr. Ian Williams Langford, recognizing his significant role as a dedicated broadcast engineer within their operations. They extended sympathies to his family and friends during this challenging period.

The IPL reiterated its commitment to providing necessary support to Langford’s family and ensuring the well-being of all individuals involved in the smooth functioning of the league.

Nilesh Bagul, a senior officer at Marine Drive Police Station, confirmed that efforts to contact Langford failed, leading to the discovery of his condition. Langford’s family has been notified, and plans for repatriation are pending the results of further investigations.

An accidental death report has been filed at Marine Drive Police Station, with ongoing inquiries. Authorities have not identified any suspicious circumstances or foul play related to Langford’s demise, pending the final determination of the cause of death.

A spokesperson from the UK Foreign Office stated that they have been assisting the family of the deceased British national and maintaining communication with local authorities.
