Larissa da Silva Machado, a young woman from Brazil, tragically passed away in a fatal motorcycle accident just hours after taking a selfie on a night out. With around 20,000 followers on Instagram, where she shared fitness and healthy lifestyle content, Larissa was well-known on social media.
The incident occurred when Larissa lost control of her Honda CG 160 Titan on a viaduct ramp, crashing into a retaining wall and sustaining fatal head injuries. Witnesses, believed to be her friends following in a car behind her, saw the crash in Manaus, Brazil, where Larissa was thrown from the bike.
Following the collision, Larissa’s friend contacted her mother, who arrived at the scene in shock and had to be restrained by police as she tried to reach her daughter. Despite emergency responders’ efforts, Larissa succumbed to her injuries, with authorities confirming her cause of death as a traumatic brain injury.
Law enforcement has cordoned off the area and initiated an investigation into the crash, reviewing CCTV footage to understand the events leading up to the tragedy. Apart from her social media presence, Larissa was also a devoted fan of Corinthians football club, and tributes are expected to pour in from friends, family, and fans in the wake of her untimely death.
This unfortunate incident follows another tragedy where two girls, Zoe Davis and Arianna Pearson, lost their lives in a school bus accident in Tennessee. The girls were among several pupils on the bus returning from a school trip when it collided with a council refuse truck and a car in Carroll County, Tennessee, leaving their families devastated.
