A Russian military officer has proposed the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine to bring an end to the conflict within 10 days. Colonel Mikhail Khodarenok, a commentator on Kremlin-affiliated television, suggested transitioning to nuclear arms in the ongoing conflict and setting a deadline for Ukraine, warning of potential nuclear attacks by Russia.
Khodarenok recommended that Russian President Vladimir Putin issue a deadline akin to the one issued by former U.S. President Donald Trump to Iran, but with the inclusion of readiness to deploy nuclear weapons. He emphasized that the current situation cannot be resolved with conventional weaponry and implied that resorting to special nuclear weapons could lead to a swift resolution by May 1.
In response, Vladimir Solovyov, a prominent figure in Russian state propaganda, welcomed Khodarenok’s proposal, referring to him as a member of the “Nuclear Maniacs Club” and expressing support for the use of nuclear weapons. Khodarenok, distancing himself from previous calls for caution, stressed the need to target Ukrainian leaders and officials who may be sheltering in secure underground bunkers using special weapons to hasten the end of the conflict and protect lives and infrastructure.
The advocates for the nuclear approach urged Ukraine to accept a peace deal dictated by Moscow, aligning with Putin’s demands, or face the threat of nuclear retaliation. Solovyov specifically warned residents of Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv to evacuate immediately, indicating potential devastating consequences if they do not comply.
