A family in Cape Verde is seeking answers after a series of deaths and illnesses among tourists. Over 1,700 people are taking legal action against TUI following a sickness outbreak. TUI expressed deep sadness over the incidents, emphasizing the importance of customer health and safety.

One family believes their loved one died as a result of the outbreak. The 71-year-old woman fell ill during her visit to Cape Verde in 2024 and tragically passed away on the plane ride back. Reports suggest that several British tourists have succumbed to gastric illnesses linked to their stay in Cape Verde.

The family, who wishes to remain anonymous, discovered diary entries detailing the deteriorating health conditions of their mother during her stay. The entries highlighted the poor conditions at the hotel, including issues with water supply and sanitation.

The woman’s health worsened during her trip, and she had to be hospitalized upon returning home. An examination revealed that the gastric illness she contracted during her holiday contributed to her death. The family received compensation from TUI for the substandard conditions at the hotel.

TUI is facing allegations of unsanitary conditions, with numerous holidaymakers filing claims against the company. Personal injury lawyers are assisting tourists in seeking compensation for illnesses contracted during their Cape Verde vacations. The solicitors reported cases of tourists testing positive for various bacterial infections.

TUI expressed condolences to the affected families and emphasized their commitment to customer health and safety. They stated that they have procedures in place to assist unwell customers during their holidays.

Irwin Mitchell solicitors highlighted the severity of the cases and the responsibility of TUI in ensuring the well-being of their clients. The solicitors are pursuing claims against TUI on behalf of affected tourists.

Recent investigations have revealed a significant number of reported cases of bacterial infections among tourists in Cape Verde. Tragically, several individuals have lost their lives after falling ill during their vacations on the islands.
