“Sydney Hospital Hammer Attack Leaves Man in Critical Condition”

Date:

A man was reportedly attacked with a hammer by a woman while he was lying in a hospital bed. The incident took place during the early hours in the inner west area of Sydney.

According to NSW Police, emergency services responded to a hospital in Camperdown at 12:15 am on Thursday, April 9 following reports of an assault. The man, aged 63, was allegedly assaulted by a woman known to him who entered the hospital premises.

The victim sustained severe injuries and is currently in critical condition after being struck in the head with a hammer during the assault. A 46-year-old woman was apprehended and charged with intending to cause grievous bodily harm to the man.

Authorities are investigating a potential connection between the attack and a recent family death of the victim, which has led to a dispute over a will. The NSW Police spokesperson stated, “A woman is set to appear in court after an alleged assault in Sydney’s inner west.”

The safety and security of patients and staff at Sydney Local Health District are of utmost importance, and any form of violence within hospitals is deemed unacceptable. An incident occurred at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where a patient was assaulted by a visitor, but no other individuals were harmed.

The case is under ongoing investigation by the NSW Police, with Sydney Local Health District cooperating to aid in the inquiries. Support is being offered to the staff who witnessed the distressing incident.
