Three individuals were wounded in an attempted knife assault at a Jehovah’s Witnesses booth located within a train station. A 35-year-old man purportedly tried to attack multiple people at Würzburg Main Station in northern Bavaria, Germany, as reported by Bavarian Police. The injuries sustained by the three individuals were minor and did not involve stabbing or cutting.
The suspect approached the booth inside the station’s entrance hall at approximately 7:50 am CET (6:50 am GMT) on Monday. Within about ten minutes, he allegedly made stabbing gestures toward a 68-year-old before targeting a 55-year-old and a 51-year-old, according to the statement.
Several bystanders, including an undercover police officer, promptly intervened and apprehended the suspect. A cordoned-off area remains at the scene while Würzburg criminal police conduct investigations, which include forensic analysis and retrieval of CCTV footage from the station. The suspect’s residence is also under examination.
Authorities are eager to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the suspect at the station or on Kaiserstrasse beforehand, or possesses relevant information. Witnesses are urged to contact Würzburg criminal police at 0931/457-1732.
This incident occurred following the discovery of a family of four deceased in a residence in Bamberg. Police responded to the apartment building around 7 pm CET (6 pm GMT) on Friday after the landlord expressed concerns about the tenants’ well-being.
Upon entry into the locked apartment, officers from the Bamberg-Land police station discovered the bodies of a 52-year-old man, a 49-year-old woman, and two children aged 14 and six. According to Bavarian Police, initial findings indicate that the 52-year-old German man fatally shot his wife, 14-year-old son, and six-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself.
The man had a firearms license and owned multiple firearms. Presently, there is no evidence of others being involved in the incident. Alongside criminal police officers, representatives from the Bamberg public prosecutor’s office and a forensic pathologist are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
