“UK Tourist Killed in Canary Islands Bus Accident”

Date:

A man from the UK passed away following a tragic incident where a bus carrying British tourists in the Canary Islands veered off a cliff due to a suspected brake failure. The victim, aged 77, was among 27 British passengers heading to the San Sebastián de La Gomera dock for a ferry to Tenerife. Two men, aged 72 and 44, sustained severe injuries and were airlifted to a hospital in Tenerife, while one more passenger is in critical condition and two others are seriously hurt.

The widow of the deceased British man was among those hospitalized after the crash. Survivors recounted their harrowing experiences, with one mentioning the fear of impending death and another describing it as a miraculous survival but expressing sorrow for the deceased passenger.

Authorities are investigating the incident, with a focus on a possible brake malfunction. The survivors, including three children, have been discharged from the hospital and are receiving support at the Bancal Hotel & Spa on the island. The British holidaymakers were guests at El Balcon de Santa Ana in Playa de Santiago.

The bus driver reportedly attempted to stop the vehicle by steering it onto a gravel track when the brakes failed. The crash occurred as the bus was making a turn, resulting in injuries and one fatality. Investigators are looking into the details of the incident to determine the exact cause.
