A prison tutor in Amesbury, Wiltshire, Kelly Duffey, 36, has pleaded guilty to two counts of misconduct in a public office at Winchester Crown Court. The charges are related to her involvement in an intimate relationship with Ashley Goodridge, a serving prisoner at HMP Erlestoke. The court was informed that the relationship occurred between July and September 2024 and included kissing and one physical sexual encounter.
In a related development, Goodridge, 38, confessed to sending a photograph from a mobile phone while at the category C men’s prison. Recorder Gemma White cautioned Duffey that she could face a custodial sentence when they appear in court for sentencing on April 16. Despite initially denying having an intimate relationship with a prisoner during a previous court appearance in February, Duffey admitted to failing to report an inappropriate relationship between a staff member and a prisoner.
Granting Duffey unconditional bail, the judge emphasized that the case is now set for sentencing, with all options, including immediate custody, to be considered.
