“Life Sentence for Man Convicted of Partner’s Murder”

Date:

A man, Tony Devenport, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 22 years for the murder of his partner, Stephanie Blundell. The court heard that Ms. Blundell, 41, was found dead in their shared home in Chester, with over 100 injuries. Devenport was found guilty of murder after a trial, where it was revealed that he had subjected Ms. Blundell to repeated and sustained assaults.

During sentencing, Mrs. Justice Steyn described Ms. Blundell as a compassionate and courageous person who died as a result of severe beatings inflicted by Devenport. Ms. Blundell’s father expressed the lasting impact of finding his daughter dead and alone. The court learned that Devenport was controlling and abusive towards Ms. Blundell, leading to a tragic end to their relationship.

Evidence presented in court showed that Devenport had prevented Ms. Blundell from seeking help and had subjected her to physical and emotional abuse. Despite suffering from health issues, including alcoholism, Ms. Blundell pleaded for help in her final days, but Devenport only provided her with alcohol and ice lollies. The post-mortem examination confirmed that Ms. Blundell died from multiple injuries exacerbated by chronic alcoholism.

Following the sentencing, Ms. Blundell’s family remembered her as a radiant soul with a kind heart and a vibrant personality. Detective Inspector Andrea Price emphasized that Stephanie was loved and cherished by her family and friends, and while justice has been served, their focus remains on honoring Stephanie’s memory.
