A delivery driver in poor health assaulted a customer by surprise, committing a disturbing sexual act on her doorstep. The incident involved Rana Jahangir, a 25-year-old individual from Manchester, who hugged and kissed the woman for over a minute despite her repeated pleas to stop, according to authorities. Initially, the woman lodged a complaint with the delivery company and did not report the assault to the police.
After conferring with friends, she eventually contacted the authorities, leading to Jahangir’s arrest at his residence in Collington Close, Longsight. Initially claiming the encounter was consensual, Jahangir was unaware that part of the incident had been recorded on a mobile phone.
Despite Jahangir’s denial of the sexual assault charge during the trial following the incident on Shipbrook Road in Rudheath, Cheshire, last September, he was found guilty and sentenced to two years and four months in prison after a trial at Chester Crown Court. Additionally, he has been mandated to register as a sex offender for a decade and received a restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim.
Following the trial, Detective Constable Sarah Ollier expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “Even when we presented him with the mobile phone footage, he continued to deny the allegations, claiming that the victim had set him up. Thankfully, the jury saw through his lies, and he has been held accountable for his actions.”
Ollier added, “I welcome the sentenced handed to Jahangir and I hope that it provides some reassurance to the victim. We will continue to do all we can to tackle any incident of violence against women and take all reports of such crimes extremely seriously and will investigate thoroughly to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
