All air travel to and from Dubai Airports has been halted indefinitely. This decision was made following an explosion in the city earlier today, leading to the suspension of all flight operations at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC).
The disruption in flight services is part of a broader impact on global air travel due to recent military actions. Airlines worldwide have canceled flights to and from the Middle East in response to US and Israeli strikes on Iran and subsequent Iranian counterattacks in the region.
The airspace closure extends beyond the UAE, affecting Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, Iran, Iraq, and parts of Saudi Arabia. The Government of Dubai Media Office has officially announced the suspension of flight operations at both Dubai airports until further notice. Passengers are advised against traveling to the airport and should contact their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules.
Various airlines have taken measures in response to the situation. British Airways has canceled flights to Tel Aviv and Bahrain until early March, while Lufthansa is suspending flights to and from Tel Aviv, Beirut, and Oman. Norwegian Air has halted all flights to and from Dubai. Qatar Airways has also temporarily suspended flights due to the closure of Qatari airspace.
Virgin Atlantic has rerouted flights to avoid Iraqi airspace and canceled its London to Dubai service. Wizz Air has suspended all flights to and from Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman until early March.
The recent explosions in multiple Middle Eastern cities, including Dubai, were a result of joint strikes by the US and Israel on Iran. Iranian retaliation includes strikes on American bases and interests in the region, as reported by the Tasnim News Agency.
