A mother who attributed her need for a brief rest before picking up her children from school to the demands of motherhood was shocked when medical professionals discovered thirteen tumors in her breast.
Claire Danvers noticed symptoms such as intense back pain, fatigue, and nausea at the beginning of 2024. She described feeling extremely fatigued, with her eyes feeling heavy and her body in pain after lunchtime. Claire, a 39-year-old self-employed woman, initially dismissed her symptoms as being related to endometriosis, taking daily painkillers for her severe back pain.
However, after finding a lump in her right breast in February 2025, Claire visited her doctor in April 2025. Following a biopsy, she received the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer in late May 2025, with doctors identifying 13 tumors in her right breast.
Claire underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, expressing the fear of leaving her children behind as “horrendous.” She urged other women experiencing breast cancer symptoms to advocate for themselves.
Reflecting on her experience, Claire from Poole, Dorset, shared, “I was enduring severe back pain, relying on pain relief daily. I was constantly fatigued, feeling tired all the time. I would struggle to stay awake after lunch, attributing it to the stress of managing a business and caring for my children.”
After discovering a lump in her breast in February 2025, Claire visited her GP in April following her husband’s insistence. A biopsy in May confirmed invasive lobular carcinoma, a form of breast cancer, with Claire recalling the shock of learning she had 13 tumors in her breast.
Despite the emotional turmoil, Claire underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. She emphasized the life-altering impact of the treatment, including being pushed into menopause due to hormone therapy. Claire’s message to others is to trust their instincts and seek medical attention if they suspect something is wrong with their health.
