Russian TV Criticizes Trump’s Handling of Iran Conflict

Date:

Russian state TV criticized Donald Trump’s approach to the Iran conflict, suggesting he is losing control and being humiliated in the Strait of Hormuz. The critique was made on a Russian TV show called The Meeting Place, where experts accused Trump of prioritizing his image over effective conflict management.

Journalist Maxim Yusin, speaking on the show, highlighted Trump’s inconsistent behavior, portraying himself as a victorious leader on social media while struggling to navigate the Iran tensions without appearing weak. Yusin emphasized that Trump’s statements lack credibility as they often contradict each other, indicating his desire to de-escalate the conflict to save face.

Yusin pointed out that Iranians are not easily swayed by Trump’s tactics, choosing to challenge and mock him instead. He described the situation as Trump being “dunked into the waters of the Hormuz Strait” by Iranian actions.

Regarding Trump’s behavior, Yusin predicted that Trump would continue to post self-congratulatory content online, reflecting his elderly mindset. However, he emphasized the global concern of having a leader detached from reality and living in a self-created virtual world.

Alexei Naumov, another expert, supported the view that Trump’s primary concern is avoiding humiliation, even at the cost of escalating tensions. Naumov highlighted Trump’s reluctance for oil and fuel price increases due to their impact on his voter base.

Political analyst Andrey Sidorchik stated that Iran has no motivation to negotiate with Trump, asserting that Tehran is rightfully prioritizing its own interests without succumbing to pressure to accommodate Trump’s ego.

The White House announced upcoming negotiations between Trump’s envoys and Iran in Pakistan, aiming to address the escalating tensions. However, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson clarified that no formal meeting is scheduled between Iran and the US, indicating a firm stance from Tehran.
