Bill Clinton has finally spoken out about the widely-discussed photograph of him swimming in Jeffrey Epstein’s pool, as videos of his deposition before Congress surfaced.
The former US President and his wife Hillary appeared before the House Oversight Committee to address questions regarding his connection to the convicted sex trafficker. During the deposition, Clinton was questioned about the pool photo, which was revealed midway through the session.
Details from the closed-door hearing, previously undisclosed, have now come to light with the release of footage from the proceedings.
In the recording, an unidentified congressman inquired about the photo, seeking clarity on the circumstances surrounding it. Clinton responded by stating he was unaware the photo was being taken and believed it was captured in Brunei at the conclusion of an extended trip to Asia.
He elaborated that his stay at the hotel in question was arranged by the Sultan of Brunei, whom he had developed a relationship with during his presidency. The Sultan had invited Clinton to use the hotel’s facilities, including the pool, to support the Clinton Global Initiative, a charitable foundation established in 2005.
Addressing the individual in the photo shielded by the Justice Department, Clinton asserted he did not recognize the person. He clarified that the other individuals in the vicinity were in a separate pool adjacent to the hot tub and emphasized that no children were present during the encounter.
Regarding any allegations of misconduct, Clinton denied any inappropriate behavior, confirming he only briefly sat in the hot tub before retiring for the night. When pressed on the topic of sexual activity, he refuted any such claims.
Through the release of over 3.5 million documents related to Epstein, Clinton’s name emerged in connection with the case, but there have been no allegations of wrongdoing by Epstein’s victims against him.
