One woman has gone viral for appearing to collect several wine bottles for herself amidst the chaos at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The incident took place following a shooting at the event held at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night.
31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen from California reportedly attempted to breach a security checkpoint outside the main ballroom armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives. Despite the alarming situation, the woman in question, dressed in a long black fur coat and unidentified, chose to focus on gathering bottles from a nearby table.
The shooting occurred early in the evening, leaving many untouched alcohol bottles in the ballroom. The woman’s identity remains unknown, and it is unclear whether she had already purchased the alcohol. There is no indication of any illegal activity.
Footage of the incident quickly spread online, sparking mixed reactions. While some criticized the act as inappropriate, others found it amusing, arguing that attendees who had paid for the event deserved to take advantage of the available resources.
During the altercation, the suspect fired at a Secret Service agent, who fortunately survived due to wearing a bulletproof vest. Investigations suggest that the attack was politically motivated, targeting administration officials, possibly including the president.
Documents found on the suspect labeled him as a “Friendly Federal Assassin” and opposed current administration policies. Despite the disruption, President Trump later praised the Secret Service’s swift response and called for an end to political violence during his address at the White House.
