A 61-year-old grandmother, Jacqueline Dube, shared her experience of falling in love with a 26-year-old Egyptian man she met online and the subsequent end of their relationship. The pair connected through TikTok and maintained daily communication despite the challenges of a 2,500-mile distance and a significant 35-year age gap. Their first in-person meeting in September was filled with declarations of love, leading to a proposal and wedding planning during Jacqueline’s second visit a month later.
However, Jacqueline soon realized that the relationship faced insurmountable cultural, financial, and geographical barriers.
