“Elderly Man Arrested for Shooting Spree in Greece”

Date:

Police in Greece have apprehended a man following the shooting of multiple women. The 89-year-old suspect was found in a hotel in the KTEL area with a loaded 38 caliber revolver, having previously used a rifle.

Allegedly concealing the weapon, the man carried out two separate attacks in Kerameikos, injuring four women and a man. The attacks took place at the EFKA (Greece’s social security office) and Loukareos Street in the Court of Appeals.

Reports indicate that the suspect, identified as an 89-year-old refuse collector, was captured in the Patras area after a manhunt by the authorities. He was taken into custody by officers from the Rapid Action Police and transported to the Achaia Police Department.

Following the shootings, an EFKA employee and four female employees from the Athens Court of First Instance were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. The president of the Athens Bar Association mentioned that letters were left at the crime scenes addressed to newspapers.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the suspect, reportedly armed with a modified rifle, entered the EFKA building and later the Athens Court of Appeals, where he shot the victims before leaving the firearm on a photocopier and disappearing.

A trainee solicitor who witnessed the events at the Athens Court of Appeals described the suspect as an elderly man in a blue trench coat, recounting the chaos caused by the shooting incidents.
