British Airways has arranged an additional flight for UK citizens in the Middle East seeking to return home. Due to the ongoing conflict with Iran, thousands of British nationals have been stranded in the region for the past six days. In response, British Airways announced an extra flight from Muscat, Oman, to London Heathrow.
The airline stated that flights from several cities in the Middle East were still not operational, but a new flight from Oman to London Heathrow is scheduled to depart on March 8 at 2:30 local time (10:30 pm GMT). This flight is specifically for British Airways customers in Oman or the UAE with existing bookings. Passengers interested in this flight are advised to contact the airline through a dedicated phone line.
In related news, Qatar Airways declared that it would conduct a limited number of relief flights to European cities, with most flights remaining suspended because of the closure of Qatari airspace. Meanwhile, over 4,000 individuals have been evacuated to the UK from the Middle East, with more flights expected to arrive. The scale of support being provided is comparable to that seen during the Covid pandemic.
Despite efforts for repatriation, a Government-chartered flight from Oman to the UK faced delays due to passenger boarding issues. Officials emphasized the seriousness of the situation and the importance of collective defense efforts with regional partners. The situation remains fluid, with ongoing repatriation efforts to bring UK citizens back from the Middle East.
