A young British woman endured a horrific 30-minute ordeal as she was sexually assaulted by eight men in a hotel room in Magaluf, according to court documents. The 18-year-old victim was stripped naked and assaulted while unconscious, with the perpetrators filming the incident.
The men, who confessed to the crime at the last minute, faced individual jail terms ranging from 18 to 20 years, totaling 151 years. However, they agreed to plead guilty in exchange for reduced sentences totaling over 73 years just before the trial began.
According to the indictment presented by Spanish prosecutors, the assault occurred at the BH Mallorca Resort in Magaluf in August 2023. The suspects took advantage of the victim’s vulnerable state and committed various sexual acts without her consent.
Following a thorough investigation, eight men, including seven French nationals and one Swiss, were arrested. Five of the assailants received prison terms of nine or 11 years for sexual assault, with three facing longer sentences for repeated offenses.
The perpetrators also filmed the assaults and were sentenced to additional time for recording the crimes. They may be deported to their home countries after serving part of their sentences, with deportation potentially occurring after six or seven years.
The indictment detailed the brutal nature of the attack, highlighting acts of rape, spitting, hitting, and filming the victim while she was unconscious. The men, aged between 18 and 26 at the time of arrest, faced charges of rape, sexual assault, and privacy violations related to sharing videos of the assault.
The BH Mallorca Resort expressed deep regret over the incident and pledged full cooperation with authorities. The Civil Guard in Majorca closed the investigation, noting the complexity of the case due to the lack of direct relationships between the suspects.
The suspects were apprehended through international cooperation, with some attempting to flee justice. The arrested individuals were remanded in custody, and efforts were made to locate and detain the remaining suspects.
