He mentioned that individuals who do not view Iran as a threat are not desired in their team, emphasizing the importance of recognizing Iran as a significant threat.
In his social media statement, Kent reiterated that Iran did not present an immediate danger to the US and accused pressure from Israel and its American supporters as the driving force behind the conflict. He highlighted Trump’s prior commitment to ending US involvement overseas, characterizing Middle East wars as detrimental to America.
Kent, a former political candidate with ties to right-wing extremists, had been a fervent supporter of Trump. His nomination to lead the National Counterterrorism Center faced opposition but was confirmed, granting him oversight of the agency’s counterterrorism efforts.
Following Kent’s resignation, Senator Mark Warner acknowledged Kent’s concerns about the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, stating that the lack of credible evidence for an imminent Iranian threat justified Kent’s position.
