“Bomb Scare Near Dublin Shopping Center Resolved Safely”

Date:

A male suspect was apprehended following an incident near a shopping center that required the presence of a bomb disposal unit. The situation, which unfolded near the Liffey Valley shopping center bus terminal on a Wednesday evening, prompted the involvement of various emergency services, including the gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade.

The individual, aged in his thirties, was taken into custody under public order laws and held at a Dublin police station. The Defence Forces were called upon to assist at approximately 8:20 pm after reports of a “suspect device” in the Liffey Valley area of Co Dublin. Bomb disposal specialists confirmed the device was not functional, leading to the handover of the scene to the police. By 10 pm, the bomb disposal operation had been successfully completed.

An official from An Garda Siochana verified that they had responded to an incident at a retail park in the Clondalkin vicinity around 7:20 pm. As a precautionary measure, a cordon was established, and the Defense Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called in. Subsequent examination of the device revealed it to be non-threatening, resulting in the removal of the cordon while inquiries continue.

Earlier, the Dublin Fire Brigade reported traffic restrictions around Liffey Valley, particularly near the bus terminal, as emergency personnel from Tallaght and Blanchardstown ambulance services were dispatched to the scene.
