Boxing Icon Ricky Hatton’s Tragic Passing Under Investigation

Date:

An inquest is scheduled to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic passing of boxing icon Ricky Hatton today. Hatton was discovered at his £1.7 million residence in Hyde, Greater Manchester on September 14 last year at the age of 46, with his long-time manager and friend Paul Speak finding him ‘unresponsive’.

According to earlier reports, Hatton was last seen alive by family members on September 12, appearing well. However, he failed to attend an event the next day, prompting Mr. Speak to visit his home on September 14. Upon arrival, Hatton was found unresponsive, leading to a post-mortem examination indicating a provisional cause of death as ‘hanging’.

The inquest is set to take place at Manchester South coroners court in Stockport. Hatton’s son, Campbell, has disclosed his father’s struggles with mental health, stating that the family was deeply moved by the outpouring of support during Ricky’s funeral at Manchester cathedral.

Mr. Speak, who discovered Hatton’s body, expressed his belief that Hatton did not intend to take his own life, highlighting the shock and confusion he experienced upon finding him. Hatton, who had plans for a holiday, a boxing comeback, and had shared his previous battles with suicidal thoughts and addiction, was described as being in a good place before his passing.

Despite appearing upbeat in his final days, engaged in gym workouts and preparing for a return to the ring, Hatton’s sudden death took those close to him by surprise. His family emphasized his role as a loving father, grandfather, and friend, remembering him for his kindness and humor that touched many lives.
