Ricky Hatton, a renowned figure in the boxing world, has had his cause of death officially confirmed following his untimely passing at the age of 46 in his residence in Manchester. The confirmation was made during an inquest held at Stockport Coroners Court, attended by grieving family members including his father, son, brother, and the mother of his daughters, as well as his manager and close friend who discovered him deceased after he missed a scheduled engagement.
During the emotional proceedings, Hatton’s mother expressed concerns about her son’s well-being, noting a decline in his short-term memory and recounting their last poignant interaction. The coroner, Alison Mutch, delivered a narrative verdict, attributing Hatton’s medical cause of death to hanging. Despite the presence of alcohol in his system and evidence of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, the coroner did not believe that Hatton had intended to end his own life.
Living alone at the time of his passing, Hatton was found in his home’s games room, where remnants of alcohol consumption and substances like cocaine and cannabis were discovered in his system. The coroner acknowledged the profound loss experienced by Hatton’s family, highlighting his deep affection for his loved ones and his enduring commitment to them. She emphasized his positive outlook on the future, mentioning his plans to travel with his daughters to see a boxing match in Dubai, portraying him as a man who cherished his family and had aspirations ahead.
