Former MasterChef host Gregg Wallace has put his stunning country retreat up for sale at a price of £1.295 million, featuring its very own carp lake. Wallace, who recently disclosed his plans to sell his Kent residence to embark on a new life in Yorkshire and Italy with his family, emphasized that this decision signifies a fresh start rather than financial difficulties post his departure from the BBC.
The five-bedroom property in Biddenden, near Ashford, was purchased by Wallace in 2008 for £810,000. Described as a spacious detached family home in impeccable condition, the estate comprises approximately 5 acres of gardens, woodlands, and pastures, along with equestrian facilities like a stable yard and a workshop.
The estate agents handling the sale, Harpers and Hurlingham, elaborate on the property’s features, highlighting the expansive living spaces including a sitting and dining room with a fireplace, a family room, a study, a well-equipped kitchen, and more on the ground floor. The upper level houses a luxurious principal bedroom suite, guest rooms, and a family bathroom, all complemented by a driveway with ample parking, a stable yard with five stables, and a charming terrace with a fountain and fishpond.
Wallace, aged 61, cited his desire to relocate due to family ties and his fondness for the area. Seeking a property in a town to feel a sense of community, Wallace expressed a need to combat feelings of isolation at his current residence.
The controversy surrounding Wallace and MasterChef emerged in November 2024 when misconduct allegations surfaced against him. Following his dismissal from the show, reports revealed numerous complaints, including instances of unwelcome physical contact and inappropriate behavior. Wallace has expressed regret for any distress caused and denied any intention to harm or humiliate others. An independent inquiry was launched by MasterChef’s production company, Banijay, to investigate the allegations further, with Wallace maintaining his innocence against the most severe accusations.
