“Woman’s Body Stored on British Airways Flight for 13 Hours”

Date:

British Airways has stated that proper protocols were followed after reports surfaced that a woman’s body was stored in a heated galley for 13 hours. The woman, said to be in her 60s, passed away about an hour into the flight from Hong Kong to London, but the decision was made not to return or make an emergency landing. Crew members reportedly had to store the body at the back of the plane, which had a heated floor.

A source revealed that discussions took place regarding the handling of the situation, with crew members facing challenges in determining how to deal with the deceased passenger. The body was eventually isolated, wrapped, and moved to a galley at the rear of the aircraft, where a heated floor caused a foul smell towards the end of the flight.

Police met the flight upon arrival, delaying passengers for 45 minutes for investigations. Crew members were offered support, with some taking time off due to the traumatic experience. International Air Transport Association guidelines dictate that a deceased passenger should be placed in a body bag or covered with a blanket and moved away from other passengers if possible.

A spokesperson for British Airways expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased passenger, confirming that all necessary procedures were correctly executed during the incident.
