“Wizz Air Pilot Shares Unique Pre-Flight Ritual”

Date:

When it comes to being a pilot, the job entails unconventional hours and flight schedules that can vary greatly. However, for one pilot, there is a consistent pre-flight ritual that he adheres to regardless of the time of day.

Observing a cabin crew member or pilot confidently navigating through the airport in their immaculate uniform with a well-packed travel bag can be quite awe-inspiring for regular passengers. It’s akin to spotting a celebrity or witnessing something extraordinary.

Curiosity often arises about the lives of those who make the skies their workplace and soar at 41,000 feet. Offering a glimpse into the life of a pilot, Tom Copestake, a Wizz Air pilot for four years, shared his pre-flight routine, whether he takes off in the early morning or late at night.

Having flown thousands of passengers to over 50 countries on more than 750 flights, Tom mentioned, “Sometimes my day starts at 3 am, and other times I begin work at 6 pm in the evening.”

“However, regardless of the time, my first ritual upon reaching the airport is to grab a vanilla latte and an almond croissant. It acts as a mental reset, signaling the start of my workday. This ritual is something I always do, and I find it to be a positive way to begin my day at the airport.”

Located at London Luton Airport, Tom enjoys his coffee and croissant before early flights, relishing the view of the Alps as he flies over them. “It’s an unmatched experience,” he remarked.

Reflecting on the breathtaking views from above, Tom noted, “There are terrains below us that remain untouched by humans – it’s truly remarkable.”

Offering a deeper insight into his role as a pilot, Tom emphasized, “This is essentially a customer service job within the aviation industry, and I take pleasure in knowing that each passenger I’ve flown has a unique story and purpose for their journey.”

He added, “Whether it’s for leisure, to reunite with family, or for work purposes, every passenger’s journey is fascinating to me. I see it as a privilege to be able to facilitate these travels.”
