A man who strangled a mother of two and hid her body in a shallow grave refused to allow police entry into his residence in a disturbing incident. Mohammed Durnion, dressed in an England football jersey, was approached by police officers from West Midlands outside his flat in Coventry. Despite his plea to be left alone, a female officer informed him they couldn’t depart.
When asked if they could enter the flat, Durnion adamantly declined, stating, “You can’t come in here.” Police had responded to reports of screaming and yelling in the flat, but Durnion denied any wrongdoing and shut the door on the officers.
Unbeknownst to the authorities, Durnion had strangled the victim, Reanne Coulson, inside the flat on May 21, placing her lifeless body in a suitcase and abandoning it in Binley Woods, four miles away. Her remains were discovered on June 27, more than three weeks later.
Durnion was acquitted of murder by a jury at Warwick Crown Court but was found guilty of manslaughter in an 11-1 decision. Additionally, his accomplice Adam Moore was convicted of assisting an offender in disposing of Reanne’s body the day after the incident.
Reanne’s cries for help were heard by a neighbor, who alerted the police. Upon entering the flat, law enforcement initially failed to locate her body.
During the court proceedings, Durnion claimed that Reanne had died from an overdose following an argument. Prosecutors argued that he intentionally attacked her, ultimately causing her death, and then feigned a mental health crisis upon police intervention.
Subsequently, Durnion led police to the burial site in the woods, confessing, “Under there,” when asked about Reanne’s location. He admitted to digging the grave with a shovel, stating it was “deep enough.” Durnion’s sentencing is scheduled for a later date.
