“King Charles & Queen Camilla’s Historic US State Visit”

Date:

King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to embark on a significant state visit to the United States, where they will meet with US President Donald Trump. Buckingham Palace has confirmed the royal couple’s upcoming trip, stating that it was advised by the government and upon the president’s invitation, deeming it a momentous occasion.

Scheduled for the last week of April, the visit will also include a separate visit by Charles to the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda, without Camilla. During their time in the US, the King and Queen will participate in commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence, attend a lavish state dinner at the White House, and witness the King addressing Congress.

Despite calls for the trip’s cancellation or postponement due to the Iran conflict, the historic visit was officially confirmed by Buckingham Palace. President Trump, who previously criticized the UK’s response to the conflict, expressed anticipation for the visit, describing it as ‘TERRIFIC’ and emphasizing the significance of the 250th anniversary celebration.

This visit marks the King’s first official visit to the US as monarch and the first state visit by a British sovereign to America in nearly two decades. Notably, there have been several inward state visits to the UK by a US President since 1952, including visits in 2003, 2011, 2019, and most recently in 2025 when Trump was hosted by the King at Windsor Castle.

While the trip has faced criticism amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions, Buckingham Palace remains steadfast in its decision to proceed with the state visit. The Palace’s announcement coincided with Trump’s public statements expressing eagerness for the visit and reaffirming his friendship with the King.

Additionally, sources indicate that Prince Harry, the King’s youngest son, will not be joining the royal visit to the US, as he currently resides on the West Coast with his family. The decision not to travel to Washington DC during the visit underscores the complex dynamics within the royal family.

As preparations for the state visit continue, the Palace’s decision to move forward with the trip has elicited mixed reactions from political figures and the public, reflecting the nuanced nature of diplomatic engagements amidst evolving global challenges.
