US Attorney General Pam Bondi has spoken out following President Donald Trump’s announcement of her dismissal via Truth Social. Reports had circulated the day before regarding Trump’s intention to fire her over her handling of the Epstein files and other issues. Trump confirmed the news through Truth Social, stating that Bondi would be transitioning to the private sector, with Todd Blanche stepping in as Acting Attorney General.
Bondi acknowledged the news, expressing her commitment to ensuring a smooth transition to Blanche before taking on a new role in the private sector where she will continue supporting Trump and his administration. Trump praised Bondi as a “Great American Patriot” who had effectively overseen a significant decrease in crime rates during her tenure.
Trump mentioned that Bondi would be moving to a new role in the private sector, with Blanche assuming the role of Acting Attorney General in the interim. The president is considering Lee Zeldin, head of the Environmental Protection Agency, as Bondi’s potential successor.
Bondi was reportedly dismissed the night before the public announcement, just before Trump addressed the nation on the Iran conflict. Despite her plea for reconsideration, Trump remained firm in his decision. There were reports of a heated exchange between Trump and Bondi the previous week, though the specifics of their disagreement were undisclosed.
Following the announcement, Rep. Robert Garcia emphasized that Bondi’s removal would not exempt her from testifying before the House Oversight Committee on the Epstein files. Bondi’s dismissal comes shortly after Trump removed Kristi Noem from the Department of Homeland Security and amid plans to dismiss National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard over a social media incident related to military operations in Iran.
