“Heinz Factory Worker Jailed for Drug Supply Network”

Date:

Police found that a Heinz factory employee had engaged in drug activities that led to his incarceration. Cory Liptrot, 22, who had various jobs including tree surgeon and waste management worker, became involved in drug distribution, transitioning from a recreational user to a supplier of heroin and crack cocaine.

A Merseyside Police investigation revealed that Liptrot was the key figure in a drug supply network. During a search at his grandmother’s residence, where he resided, authorities discovered a live bullet in a rucksack, which Liptrot claimed was a replica. However, further examination revealed it was a 9mm round linked to self-loading pistols.

Investigators also found two Nokia phones in Liptrot’s bedroom, used to send bulk messages advertising drugs for sale. Subsequently, Liptrot was apprehended at his partner’s home and denied the allegations, stating that the discovered substances were not illegal drugs.

During the court proceedings, Liptrot’s defense highlighted his troubled upbringing and struggles with drug use and mental health issues. Despite his lack of criminal record, Liptrot pleaded guilty to drug supply and possession of ammunition without proper authorization, resulting in a three-year prison sentence.

In sentencing, Judge Stuart Driver KC emphasized the severity of Liptrot’s actions, noting his involvement in running a sophisticated drug operation using modern technology to reach a large customer base. While acknowledging Liptrot’s difficult background and previous good behavior, the judge underscored the need for accountability in light of the crimes committed.
