A convicted paedophile who coerced a teenage girl in the US into being his “sex servant” has been revealed as an international predator who operated from his brother’s residence. Trevor Fernandes, aged 41, was sentenced in 2022 to over ten years in prison for grooming and blackmailing a US girl into engaging in abusive acts with herself and another child. His arrest by National Crime Agency officials in 2020 followed the victim’s report of the abuse to Texas police in Garland.
Upon Fernandes’ incarceration, NCA detectives confiscated his phone and unearthed 15 additional victims whom he targeted while residing in his brother’s basement. They uncovered that he communicated with teenagers from Canada, Norway, and the US, along with girls in the UK, managing a group on the social platform Kik.
Under a false identity as a teenage boy, Fernandes pressured young girls to send explicit photos and videos, compelling them to perform degrading tasks like licking toilet seats and consuming their urine if they disobeyed his commands.
In a recent court appearance, Fernandes pleaded guilty to 67 more charges, with Judge Townsend describing his actions as among the most severe encountered by the court. He received a life sentence with a minimum term of 13 years and eight months.
Danielle Pownall, Senior Investigating Officer at the NCA, commended the bravery of the US victim for reporting the abuse, emphasizing that Fernandes’ continued threats and coercion underscore the gravity of his crimes. The collaborative efforts of UK and US authorities have led to the identification and protection of numerous victims worldwide, reinforcing the commitment to combat child exploitation.
Detectives initiated an inquiry following the victim’s disclosure of prolonged online contact with “Trevor,” who escalated demands for explicit content, including coercing her to abuse another child. Fernandes’ arrest in 2020 yielded incriminating evidence from devices seized at his residence, exposing his manipulative online activities and interactions.
Further investigations unveiled Fernandes’ multiple online personas and led to his conviction on 16 charges related to child sexual exploitation. Subsequent analysis of seized devices uncovered additional offenses against numerous victims, resulting in 67 more charges against Fernandes in 2025.
Jeanette Smith from the CPS highlighted Fernandes’ exploitation of young girls across various countries, emphasizing the collaborative efforts to ensure justice for the victims and prevent future harm. The message urged individuals facing online abuse to seek help and report perpetrators for accountability and protection.
