Three men and a woman were taken into custody after an incident unfolded on Chichester Road in Southend-on-Sea last night. A man sustained severe injuries following an alleged assault involving a vehicle and stabbing in Southend-on-Sea.
Law enforcement and medical responders quickly arrived at Chichester Road in the early hours of Sunday following reports of a violent confrontation between two groups. The chaos erupted around 2am as individuals from both groups, some reportedly armed with knives, engaged in a physical altercation in the coastal town.
Upon arrival at the scene, armed officers discovered a man with stab wounds who had also been struck by a vehicle. The victim sustained serious injuries that are potentially life-altering. Two suspects fled in a vehicle, which was later found at Southend Hospital. Another vehicle believed to be connected to the incident was intercepted on the M25 in Hertfordshire.
Four individuals, including three men and a woman, were apprehended on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. One of the male suspects is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital. Authorities believe the incident may be tied to a previous disturbance near South Street Bar on London Road, Westcliff, around 1am.
A significant police presence was maintained at the crime scene on Chichester Road, near Warrior Square, throughout Sunday morning. Chief Superintendent Chris Bradford assured the local community of swift arrests and emphasized that the individuals involved were likely acquainted with each other.
