Police are on the lookout for two individuals wearing balaclavas following a shooting incident involving a teenage boy in Huddersfield. The incident occurred outside Fartown Library around 9pm on Wednesday, April 8, prompting emergency services to respond to reports of the injured teenager.
The 17-year-old victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, sought help from friends who dialed 999 at the scene. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment. Prior to the shooting, two masked men were seen in the vicinity near trees in a secluded area off Richmond Avenue.
West Yorkshire Police are urging any witnesses to come forward in connection with the attack. The victim, who has since been discharged from the hospital, was confirmed to have suffered a bullet injury. According to Yorkshire Live, the incident took place on a woodland path linking Richmond Avenue to the rear of the Woodlanders FC football pitch off Spaines Road in Birkby.
Detective Inspector Fiona Allan of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team emphasized the seriousness of firearms offenses, stating that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. She highlighted the importance of cooperation from the public, especially in providing any information or footage related to the presence of the two balaclava-clad individuals near the football pitch or surrounding areas on the evening of the incident.
