“James Bulger’s Burial Site Vandalized Again”

Date:

Denise Fergus, the mother of James Bulger, expressed her deep sorrow and outrage after her son’s burial site was vandalized for the second time within six weeks. Following an earlier attack in February that damaged the cherubs on James’s grave, the cherubs’ heads were once again maliciously removed, causing distress to Denise.

Despite the previous repair efforts by an “Army of Heroes,” who raised over £20,000 for restoration, the vandals struck again, leaving Denise devastated. Merseyside police launched a search for the perpetrators and the missing heads of the cherub statues that flank James’s headstone.

In an exclusive statement to The Mirror, Denise condemned the despicable act, emphasizing the emotional toll of such vandalism on a child’s resting place. She called for anyone with information to come forward and assist in identifying the culprit.

Katie McCreath, a member of Denise’s legal team, expressed deep sadness and anger over the repeated vandalism, highlighting the violation of a sacred and personal space for the family. She assured that authorities were involved in addressing the matter and supporting the family during this challenging time.

The initial vandalism occurred in February, damaging the cherubs and prompting a fundraising campaign that exceeded its target, allowing for the repair and enhancement of James’s grave. Denise expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, mentioning plans to install new marble cherubs as a lasting tribute to James’s memory.

James Bulger, a toddler, was tragically murdered in 1993 by two ten-year-old boys. In response to his death, Denise and her husband established the James Bulger Memorial Trust, offering support to families in need. Excess funds raised from donations would be directed towards maintaining a holiday lodge near Blackpool for families seeking respite.
